Barreto 13 hp roto tiller in action!

This old horse paddock is approximately 60' x 70', and I tilled the whole field down to a depth of 4-6" in two passes* in about 2 hours. This is the model: www.barretomfg.com with the 13 hp Honda motor. I rented it from Bay Area Rentals in Torrance, CA for /day plus for the tow extension. A1 Coast Rentals around the corner rents it for nearly less, and a Friday afternoon rental lasts until Monday morning, but they were completely out of units when I called :( The Baretto did a fine job on this field, and I endorse it wholeheartedly. I rented a little Honda front-tine model from Home Depot last year for , and it was more than twice the work for less than half the speed. Spend the extra few dollars and rent the bigger unit! But note that this Barreto comes on a trailer, so you'll need a vehicle that can tow. It's also a very heavy unit, and the wheels don't turn unless the motor's running, so you can't even wheel it back onto the trailer if you run out of gas. Keep a gas can handy! When it's running it's great. The action is hydraulic, so it never kicks or binds. I ran over an old 1" rubber horse mat, buried in the dirt, and it just quietly stalled. I restarted, backed up, and continued going. * below the top soil, grass, and roots, there's some hardpan that nothing short of a chisel plow is going to get through. In some of my softer areas, the Baretto easily went down to 12".
